Getting There: Flights, Trip Insurance, Passports
We are just a little over 7 months from our retreat, and It's time to start planning your travel to Spain!
Hello Beauty, Fall is here and we are a little over 7 months out from our trip to Spain, how exciting!
Wherever you are, we hope that you are safe and not impacted by any of the extreme weather conditions some are experiencing around the country. If you are, and there is anything you need, please let us know how we can help.
FLIGHTS:
As we approach the holidays, now would be a great time to start looking for flight deals, airline holiday sales and to add a tracker for your flights to Granada. The trackers will give you updates when there are flight fare changes so that you can take advantage of any dips in pricing. Many travel resources suggest booking international flights anywhere from 3 to 5 months in advance to get the best deals and seat availability.
Please book your travel to arrive in Granada, Spain the morning of 5/24/25 if you plan to use the provided ground transportation, which departs the airport by 2pm. For your departure on 5/31/25, do not book flights leaving in the morning, unless you plan to coordinate your own transportation to the airport. Provided ground transportation will be leaving the hotel at 9am, so give yourself plenty of time to arrive, check-in, go through security, etc. We suggest departing flights take place after 1pm. If you plan to arrive to Spain one or more days early, or will not be going directly to the airport at check-out, you will need to book your own ground transport, and the hotel concierge will be able to help coordinate. If you have any questions, we can also assist.
TRAVEL INSURANCE.
We highly encourage you to buy trip travel insurance to protect your investment, in case you cannot attend for any reason.
Here are links to some popular options for travel insurance, but please feel free to use any company you prefer:
There are many different kinds of travel insurance with different types of coverages, cancellation policies, protection values and claim processes. Do your homework on any travel insurance company/policy you decide to go with. If you belong to AAA, Costco or other member organizations, they usually have specific carriers they work with and often can provide discount rates.
If you need help with Faye or Allianz travel insurance, Chelina is also a Fora Travel Designer and can help you with your insurance and travel needs, reach out at chelina.vargas@fora.travel.
PASSPORTS.
Spain requires visitors to have US Passports that are valid for at least 3 months beyond the period of stay, but the US recommends at least 6 months beyond your travel date and many European countries require 6 months as well. If your Passport expires less than 3 to 6 months on or after your travel date (for most of us, this would be 8/23/25 for 3 months or 11/23/25 for 6 months) you’ll need to renew your Passport before your Spain trip. You will also need to have at least one blank page for your entry stamp. For more info on Passport requirements for Spain, visit the US Department of State here.
For US Citizens, there are no other requirements to enter Spain, and visitor stays up to 90 days do not require a Visa. If you are traveling to other European countries during your stay, please visit the US Travelers in Europe page for requirements traveling in the Schengen area.
REAL ID:
If you are a US Citizen and plan to book a flight that includes a US stop or layover on your way to Spain, be aware that you will have to have a Real ID to board any US domestic flight beginning May 7, 2025. For more info, visit Homeland Security’s FAQ for Real IDs here.
For non-US Citizens, please refer to your local state and country laws for travel. If you need any help or resources, let us know.
